Grammarly is great if you already have a solid command of English. I use it for my documents as well. But for important things I need published I use a professional proofreading service.

Absolutely. I wouldn’t trust my final document to Grammerly or any other program. How often do they make incorrect suggestions!

Happy New Year, Michelle.
Thank you for sharing this post. I’ve heard of Grammarly but haven’t checked it out yet. Sounds like it could be useful. With me as writer, proofreader, editor and publisher, it is very difficult to get it all right all the time. I must admit that I’ve never worked out how reading backwards one word at a time helps though.

Thank you for the post, really helpful! I tend to read fast and need to slow down.

Proofreading something, I too, have the tendency to speed up and often remind myself to slow down.

Thanks for sharing! Reading backwards…I’ve never heard that, but I can see how it would help to catch errors.

Whenever I am adding large numbers to a document such as account numbers, model and serial numbers, I read the number out loud both ways to make sure I’ve entered it correctly. It’s funny, but looking at it both ways really brings out the errors.
