Whack, Whack, Whack, Goes the Tail!

By Mark Rouillard

Illustrated by David Burk

Book Blurb

This is a story about a dog named Jack that has no idea his tail is constantly whacking anything and everything that is behind him. Jack loves his human family unconditionally, and they love him.

My Review

Whack, Whack, Whack, Goes the Tail! is the author’s debut book.  It is an adorable story about a dog’s love for his family and the trouble his tail is always causing.  The story is written with the 3-5-year-old in mind and is sure to cause some giggles when children hear the tale of the tail.

The book is beautifully illustrated with colorful pictures the children are sure to love.

I recommend this for all young children in the target age group.  It would make a lovely gift.

About the Author

Born and raised in Littleton, Massachusetts, Mark Rouillard moved to Southern California and now calls Orange County home. Working as a mechanical design engineer has been a rewarding profession with several patents being awarded.

Although it is said everyone has at least one book in them, I never dreamed of writing a book. A friend has a dog named Jack that I love who was the inspiration for this book. Always a happy dog his tail is constantly wagging furiously creating turmoil for anything and everything that is behind him. Long ago I began to tell him, “whack, whack, whack, goes the tail”, usually as something was getting upended by his tail. When the inspiration was born I clearly envisioned a children’s picture book with that title, wrote the 357 words, and described my vision for each illustration.

Holding the first hardcover book in my hands in April 2017 was exciting and achieved part of my first goal. Now seeing the book for sale on the website http://whackwhackwhackgoesthetail.com/ in both hardcover and eBook formats has fully achieved that first goal. I have two more goals for this book which are associated with sales. I hope to someday announce these next 2 goals have also been achieved!

The Case of the Brown Scraggly Dog

Davey & Derek Junior Detectives – Book 4

By Janice Spina

Book Blurb

Davey and Derek Donato are at it again in this new book. In this case they come across a brown scraggly dog with blood on its paw but when the boys try to stop the dog, it runs away.

Aunt Gigi is here once again to assist the boys with their magic and provide some new spells.

Clues surface that suggest that someone may be injured and in need of help. The boys will have to use their skills and a little magic to solve this case.

My Review

Junior detectives, Davey and Derek Donato, are off again to solve another mystery with the help of Aunt Gigi’s magic and Mianna, the cat in Aunt Gigi’s crystal ball. The boys get into mischief as they try to discover what happened to the scraggly dog and how it’s paw got blood on it.  The ending was a wonderful surprise and the kind of ending any child would love.

The author’s goal in writing books for children that bring to light life lessons that the children can learn from.  These lessons include politeness (Davey and Derek are both polite boys), kindness (they are kind to the dog and to his owner, as well as to family and friends in this story), and sensitivity (they are concerned that their friend Mickey isn’t left out and that their mom doesn’t worry needlessly about them).  Janice Spina accomplished her goal with The Case of the Brown Scraggly Dog.

This book is sure to delight. I highly recommend The Case of the Brown Scraggly Dog to young readers.

A Planet for Tristan Wolf by Mariana Llanos

A Planet for Tristan WolfTristan and his brother Billy had a terrible argument. Well actually, it was a fight.  Red, Tristan and Billy’s dog ate Billy’s favorite trading card, and Billy blamed Tristan. Tristan decided to run away with Red and find a new home.  Tristan’s adventure takes him to a strange and colorful planet where everything seems perfect, but is it? Once again, Tristan’s imagination takes him on a new journey to a make-believe world.

With her exceptional ability to capture a child’s imagination in her writing, Mariana Llanos has created this delightful story about mistakes and forgiveness, family love, and being with the people who are important to you.  It is a superb book, and I recommend it to all who have young school-aged children to read it to their children or let them read it themselves.
