4. Thanks for sharing this post, Michelle. Both reading and writing short stories gives me a lot of pleasure, but writing them is not high on the agenda at the moment – one day, again. I did a course in writing short stories many years ago and loved being able to tell a story or a scene in just a few hundred words. For now I’ll have to be content with my flash fiction. I may return to short stories in the future.

5. Short story writing is a great training ground for writers. Novels are often abandoned unfinished, but a short story is much more achievable.
