My Review

Dee and Deb are twins and are going to kindergarten.  They worry about meeting new friends.

The first day of kindergarten, or any grade, or the first day at a new school can cause anxiety in any child.  Donna McDine’s story can ease that anxiety for a young child when they realize that Dee and Deb made friends and had a good time doing many new and fun things.  The story is realistic and features adorable pictures by Jack Foster, an award-winning illustrator.

If you have a young child in your life who will be entering kindergarten (or a new school), I highly recommend you read this book together.

I received a copy of this book by the author in exchange for my honest review.

    1. Thanks for sharing, Bette. My granddaughter starts kindergarten this year. She’s a bit nervous about it, not only going to a new school, but it’s all day. Perfect timing for her. too. 💕🤗💕

  1. Settling the nerves of the little ones before school with a book that can be referred to before the time is a great way of helping them understand what is going to happen. I wish we would have had books like this ‘in my day’.

    1. The books for little ones of all ages are astonishing! It would have been nice to have such choices when we were young, but most of us survived. My kindergarten teacher was a gem. I think I cried every day for most of the year, and Mrs. Sponzelli always had hugs and understanding reasurances for me.

  2. I think it’s good to have books about familiar situations that may cause children anxiety. If those fears can be discussed, acknowledged and assuaged, it is a good thing.
