I cannot stress the importance of reading aloud to children enough. Please take a moment to read Roberta’s account of reading to her preschool classes. Roberta really gets it.
What a wonderful post, Michelle, thanks for sharing. I don’t have strong memories of my parents reading to me, but my husband and I read to our kids all the time when they were little, and we loved those moments. Even as young adults now and accompanied with technology, they still take time to read. 🙂
What a lovely post. Great choice to share, Michelle.
I agree about that importance. I was rarely read to as a child. I didn’t begin to learn to read until the second grade. Of course, once I got started, you couldn’t keep my nose out of a book. But I feel like I missed so very much because my parents didn’t care about or support my reading.
Read to somebody today. Get caught reading today.
Mega hugs.
Reading to children is such a delightful experience for all involved. I don’t have memories of my mom reading to us, but sometimes she would tell stories. I read to my kids everyday, and to my grandchildren whenever I get the chance.
Hi Norah. How are you? This summer has been crazy and I’ve only been hitting blogs hit or miss. I’m glad I caught this one though. Yes, the stories are supposed to be true.
Hi Michelle, I missed you around the blogosphere, but we can all get caught up in other things at times. I’m pleased you caught and shared this one too. I really enjoyed reading about Jackson, as well as learning more about the stories. 🙂
It’s been a busy time for us, Norah. But I try to spend a little time each day visiting a couple of blogs. I will have a post soon to explain what is going on here.

Thanks for sharing this post, Michelle. It’s a great story isn’t it. I didn’t realise that the “Little House” books were considered to be true.
